Achieving Health Equity for LGBTQIA+ People

This session will provide an overview of LGBTQIA+ concepts, terminology, and health disparities, as well as key strategies for delivering high-quality SUD/BH care to LGBTQIA+ people at health care organizations. Participants will also learn about creating LGBTQIA+-inclusive environments of SUD/BH care and about the intersections of LGBTQIA+ health, population health, and team-based care.

Adolescent and Opioid Addiction
Jennifer Kershaw Jensen, MSN, APRN-NP, CPNP is a Nurse Practitioner in The Potocsnak Family Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Lurie Children's Hospital. Her clinical areas of expertise include substance use prevention and treatment as well as care for LGBTQ+ identified youth.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will be able to identify risk factors for developing Opioid Use Disorder (OUD)
Attendees will understand the current trends in opioid use among youth
Attendees will learn strategies to intervene with youth at risk of developing or having developed OUD
Attendees learn treatment options for OUD
Continuing education is made possible through the Community Health Center, Inc. (CHCI) and its Weitzman Institute, the research, education, and policy arm of CHCI. In support of improving patient care, this activity was planned and implemented by the Illinois Primary Health Care Association and Community Health Center, Inc./Weitzman Institute and is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. Additional CE credits are available for dentists, pharmacists, physician assistants/associates, psychologists, and social workers. 1.0 CEUs available.
