Achieving Health Equity for LGBTQIA+ People

This session will provide an overview of LGBTQIA+ concepts, terminology, and health disparities, as well as key strategies for delivering high-quality SUD/BH care to LGBTQIA+ people at health care organizations. Participants will also learn about creating LGBTQIA+-inclusive environments of SUD/BH care and about the intersections of LGBTQIA+ health, population health, and team-based care.

Sinai Urban Health Institute (SUHI), the community-engaged research arm of Sinai Chicago, Chicago’s largest private safety-net health system, has been committed to promoting health and reducing health inequities for over 21 years. Through Chicago CARES, SUHI’s team of Community Health Workers has been delivering the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP). Join us to learn more about SUHI’s DPP hub model, whereby health care, social service and community-based organizations can refer individuals to DPP.
